2. Read the grid and the pay structure.
3. Find the volatility and the RTP.
4. List the features and the maximum win.
5. Test at the smallest stake you can repeat.

Reading new slots: grid and pay structure

New slots differ most in how a win is counted. Big Bass Bonanza uses a 5x3 grid with 10 lines. Sweet Bonanza uses a 6x5 grid that pays on clusters of 8 or more matching symbols. Mahjong Ways uses a 5x4 grid with 1,024 ways to win.

If the screen says scatter pays or cluster pays, there is no fixed line to trace, and any symbol position can count. If it says ways, count the symbols from the leftmost reel instead. Write the structure down before you play.

Volatility and RTP on a new release

Slot features and slot themes

Slot features are the part that changes how a session plays, so list them. Sweet Bonanza lists tumbling reels, free spins with multipliers to 100x and an optional feature purchase. Mahjong Ways lists cascading wins and a multiplier rising to 10x in free spins. Super Ace lists golden card wilds, free games and a multiplier.

What a theme tells you

Slot themes are the artwork and the story: candy, fishing, mahjong tiles, gems. A theme does not change the maths. Two games with different themes can share a grid and a volatility, and two games with the same theme can differ in both. Judge on the screen, not the picture.

What a feature tells you
